Helios
U.S. Army | Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) Cyber Analytics
A major new development, the Asset Visibility (recently branded, “Helios”) application, allows users to search for assets and view their metadata through hostname, utilizing live data on the web. The data is pulled as configured off Kafka and uses JSON files with normalized field names for each Kronos and Knowledge data feed. Helios also has the capability to use Elasticsearch aliasing for asset model indices.
Team Metronome designed the Helios back end, and front end that allows users to search the asset data model based on hostnames as well as other contextual information such as Operating System (OS) and Area of Responsibility.
Our team is creating the logic to periodically export the Helios data model to be consumed by external systems. This process will facilitate the production and supply of Helio data models in Newline Delimited JavaScript Object Notation (NDJSON) format to external tools like the ALEX Version Two (v2) system managed by the Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER) Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) team to avoid existing workaround solutions that put a significant load on GN’s Application Programming Interface (API).
The Helios application will enable operators to configure, execute, and produce results for analytics on the GN Production system using Pebibytes (PiB) of Army network data.
